So, here it is- Christmas evening 2009.

My girlfriend katie leans over to me and says “Did you hear about that someone tried to set off a bomb on a plane over detroit?” with a heightened voice.

“No, I hadn’t.”

She reads on… blah… blah… blah…”…attempted terrorist attack over Detroit…. …23 year old Nigerian….” Hmmm… Nigerian.

That doesn’t seem right to me at all.

Work with me for a second, while I lead you down my path of thought.

Al Queda = an Afghan extremist group who (while destroying the beauty of Islam by doing everything opposite of what Islam is about) has set out to piss off a bunch of otherwise corrupt war-profiting assholes in the US.

Nigeria = small country on the southern portion of the western horn of the African continent. See also: where my step dad worked for a number of years for Shell Oil as an exploration geologist before leaving the country under orders by Shell due to the instability of the government at the time. Shell oil, being noted as “the largest employer on the planet” is also known to do work with another company out of Houston, TX which became a much talked-about topic after former VP Dick Cheney pushed contracts to Halliburton during the beginning of the 2nd Iraq war in 2002.

So, I read a few of the articles about the incident for myself, in an effort to find anything strange about it.

Here are a few of the very articles that I read:

1) http://www.examiner.com/x-25304-NY-Homeland-Security-Examiner~y2009m12d25-Terrorist-attack-on-Amsterdam-to-Detroit-flight

2) http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126180624205805587.html?mod=article-outset-box

3) http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/stories/2009/12/21/daily46.html

Now, I seriously don’t want to be labelled a conspiracy theorist here, so i’ll drop a few KNOWN FACTS in to the fray:

1) In the past months, former VP Dick Cheney has been very vocal about there being a heightened cause for alarm for the potential of new “terrorist attacks” on US soil.

2) Former VP, DICK Cheney, used to be the CEO of Halliburton.

3) Halliburton is a corrupt company who was in Nigeria doing business with Shell Oil.

4) Mind you, none of that goes without pointing out that Halliburton’s affairs weren’t questionable in the first place. Take, for example, the questioning being done by the U.S. Corp. of Engineer’s questioning about the “No-Bid contracts” granted under the authority of Dick himself.

So, how is it, EXACTLY, that a 23 year old Nigerian would happen upon the ability to not only be affiliated with Al Queda in NIGERIA which happens to be roughly 4880 miles from Afghanistan (Lagos, Nigeria to Kabul, Afghansitan)? And, despite the almost classic hysteria from a variety of Senior House Republican in charge of SEcurity Peter King, we don’t know yet several critical things: how powerful and sophisticated the explosive device was; whence it came; how on earth someone could get on an international flight with it strapped to his leg and a syringe to inject some kind of liquid; we don’t know whether the maniac has any formal links to terror groups (I’m not sure whether that would make us more or less concerned); and we don’t know whether the device could have brought down the plane as it was first being considered nothing more than a firecracker.

Without answers to any of those facts, we should withhold any attempt at real analysis- without first looking further back in history and attempting to look at ALL of the pieces in front of us.

This, of course, doesn’t got o say that what we can be glad that another crazed Islamist-extremist yet again failed to achieve what he wanted, while getting severely burned in the process; glad still that fellow passengers took the bastard down. But for all that what we know is sadly familiar: someone with Islamist-extremist sympathies tried to murder a lot of innocent people, thus furthering the strain on Christian-Muslim relations.

But I also have to say: when I watch little old ladies have their lipstick removed in the security line, or I myself am asked to remove my sandals so that they can be scanned with the big x-ray machine that cost more than 3 years of health insurance coverage for 10 Americans, you wonder why someone named Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab who’s on a no-fly list could have gotten through security in Europe with an explosive strapped to his leg.

That said, think about the possibility of there being MORE to this story than what you are reading in the evening news. I’d be willing to trust my gut in this particular realm, where many are not willing to look.

yes, the game itself is something that I don’t really recommend to any one individual or person at any level- simply because… well… the over all experience leaves you wanting to do a little bit more than you accomplished each time you play it. sure, it’s totally a spam machine, message sender, but the few friends who actively engage you in the game by giving gifts seem to be having a hard time from not gifting an item back to you… how much money mafia wars winds up making off of the truly addicted, is hard to day.

The creators of Mafia Wars, Zynga Inc., does make the more desirable items (those pertaining to assisting a player with the ability to advance further in the game during a single game, than they would without purchasing the item (which is no small fee for a virtual, online, game) a method by which they most certainly draw a significant amount of income.

All in all, I use it daily to send my child a few “virtual gifts” and as a tool to help the two of us remain connected in some form or fashion through the large 800 mile distance which exists between our two houses.

That all said, feel free to drop me a line with any tips or tricks or comments. It’ll be interesting to see if “My Mafia” grows in size at all….

Up above you darling (past the line, between the land), I’ll call you from Vancouver
just staring @ your picture till it’s all that I can stand. This dream’s a lil narrow, so
I’m sticking to my guns while the wake-up calls keep coming (though sometimes, dearie,
lord the thought of another one).

Are you shaking? Are you sleeping? Yet, another weepy lil rager drowned down to the ring.
It’s hard a moon to swallow. You’re drunk or you’re dead under this swollen,
swampy sky; when the thought of one more broken night is more than some’ll ever shed.

So, here it is… almost 2 years after my last blog post on *this particular* blogging machine, and a few blogs that I’d set up and created on my own, I’m finally going to get myself back in to the habit of writing things out.

That said… I haven’t read my previous post, nor have i looked in to the other livejournal blog that I’ve kept (only for venting about things that I shouldn’t and will not mention here due to their personal sensitivity in relation to my daughter, her mother and all that falls in between the working and non-working issues that remain between us).

So where to begin?
I’m moving. I’m moving from Santa Cruz and the home of a person that I’ve taken care of for the past year in to the wilds of Oakland, CA and an apartment to be shared with my very dear and sweet girlfriend of a little over a year- Katie. There are a lot of different reasons why this is going to be good, and very few that will be anything that I worry about, or even think about not enjoying. Finally, the pace is picking up for me, while I continue my education, continue to find a solid office job and continue to work down my personal debt in an effort to become a “distinguished” member of our local community.

With that, I’m looking for a job…any job, really, that will provide me with a few duties- (data entry, customer service, etc.) and won’t take away from my necessary time to study how our political system is pieced together, and how it is posible for our government to be in the position it is in today.

And so… here are some words, and some thoughts for the beginning of a hopefully long-term relationship with putting my thoughts in to words, and my words in to action through the use of a medium and form that I have, in the past, found to be quite useful for doing such things.

Until next time,
M

Hey Letty-

Another week and a few days has gone by; and I’m going to point out

that, again, it’s been a reasonable amount of time to have responded

to my last request for information with a few dates as to when I can

expect to see Maya.

That said, I’m trying to be reasonable and would (at the very least)

like to have this issue taken care in a reasonable manner- but I can’t

continue to be reasonable if I am constantly being put in the position

to be an asshole, which is what your lack of cooperation with this

matter is doing.

Also, i’ve tried to work Maya on this issue as well, but I don’t think

that going through Maya for something that you should be on top of is

really appropriate, and have decided to not do that any further.

That said, do you just need for me to just give you the dates that I

would like to have Maya?

If you do, then here are the dates that I would work for me:

Father’s day June 21-July 31, 2009 (40.5 days of the 81 day vacation.

1/2 day for travel each way taken in to consideration)

or

July 30 – September 8, 2009 (also, 40.5 days of the 81 day vacation.

1/2 day for travel each way taken in to consideration.)

Mind you- this is evenly cut down the middle, and it is done so

because I didn’t here any feedback from you on the dates until AFTER

Maya went back to Seattle from her visit last year, and there was a

problem with what you’d seen after-the-fact. So, I’m nipping this in

the bud, and splitting it down the middle- as it should be.

Just let me know within a few days as I still need to coordinate my

plans for the summer and have been waiting for your response as that I

can do so.

Thanks for your cooperation, and I look forward to hearing from you

within 48 hours.

Sincerely,

Myles
